About 10 years ago I was commissioned to do an 8 foot by 10 foot mural of clouds.
Even when I did illustration, I never did "thumbnails" because when I am "searching" for answers,
all the little choices help capture the "soul" the "essence" of a piece.
If everything is "worked out" in the Thumbnail, there is no room for true creativity!
At least, the way I work.
I just liked going right to the heart of the matter. In this case,
a 10 x 8 foot mural doesn't allow for "figuring it out as you go."
So, I spent months doing 16 x 20s
(a total of 15 studies, and still could not find "the right one.")
Strange thing, I received the commission the last day of February,
and THERE WAS NOT A CLOUD IN THE SKY FOR ALMOST 3 WEEKS!!
REALLY UNUSUAL FOR NORTH IDAHO.
