Crow Sunrise8 x 10 PLEIN AIR PAINTING |
In 1975 I first went to the Crow celebrations, where I have gathered most of my research for my Native American paintings. I went there for perhaps 15 years, and then had not gone back for about 10 due to lack of time, money, or one time a death in the family (one does not "celebrate" should there be a death in one's family that year.)
When I finally made it, in 1999, I photographed a wedding before I left, using 400asa film. I usually shoot 100asa...need I say more? Well, the only physical thing I returned home with, was this painting!
A year later it was purchased by a dealer, and as it hung in his office at his gallery, a client came in looking at his Henry Sharp collection. As they viewed this piece, they commented: "That's a beautiful Sharp!" Well, guess that made all the other "losses" that year, worth while!!
