This painting came about in a strange way. It was nearing midnight, when I had finished this figure, and it had almost flowed off the end of my brush. There was another figure behind her, to the left, but decided to do her the next day. Well, as "Murphy" would have it, the longer I worked on this second figure, the worst she got...almost had the appearance of concrete! I decided that perhaps the first gal didn't want any company! So, I turned it up on end, and washed out the entire figure. And that is where it stayed for months, there on my easel, not knowing what to become.
then I met a psychologist from Florida who saw it, and said there must be a storm coming...and immediately I saw the image above: so, when I ventured to California that Fall, I went down the Northern Coast, south of Carmel, photographing the cliffs...and the painting was finally finished!
