Most people don't realize it, but all artists (painters) are really liars! But we are! We take some paint, move it around on a surface, and bingo! There are four geese and three women standing before you, in the middle of a field! Or maybe we are just magicians! Creating stuff out of something that came out of a tube of paint!
Whatever you want to call it, it still takes a lot of left brain activity (also called STUDY) to make it appear so!! If you don't believe me, take this painting, remove the long shadow behind the geese...and see what happens. Yep, the geese sort of fall over, and get absorbed into the field.
And because of that, I placed that shadow (merely used as a "tool") where it is, only to bring those geese forward!
You see, that is one of the universal principles of art:
playing opposites against one another. Just a "tool", to "fool" ya!
